With a commitment to unity, inspiration, and lasting impact, the British & Irish Lions and Rugby Australia are partnering with the Great Barrier Reef Foundation to support the protection and conservation of Australia’s coral reefs.
Climate change is the greatest threat to the Great Barrier Reef and coral reefs globally, causing warmer ocean temperatures and severe coral bleaching. Without decisive action, up to 90% of the world’s coral reefs could be gone by 2050. As a habitat for thousands of marine species, the Reef’s preservation is essential for global biodiversity.
Founded in response to the first mass coral bleaching event in 1998, the Foundation is a leader in coral conservation, leveraging research and partnerships to protect and restore reefs in Australia and the Pacific. The 2025 Tour provides a powerful platform to unite the rugby community for marine conservation and climate action.
